　　　　包芬格（史蒂夫·马丁 Steve Martin 饰）做梦都想成为一名电影制片人，然而，依然生活在贫困之中的他显然离自己梦寐以求的好莱坞上流社会有着遥远的距离。可是，苍白的现实却并不能打击包芬格实现自己理想的热情，他得到了一个新的剧本，和朋友们夸下海口，将要邀请好莱坞著名的动作明星凯特（艾迪·墨菲 Eddie Murphy 饰）来做自己的男主角。                                        凯特当然毫不犹豫的拒绝了包芬格抛来的橄榄枝，因为后者能够支付给他的片酬实在是少得可怜。无奈之中，执着的包芬格和他的“摄制组”开始了漫长的偷拍计划。这一计划将凯特的生活搅得一团糟，与此同时，亦吸引了一些和包芬格一样疯狂的人。
